Philip D’Agati’s expertise is in nationalism, the Olympics, sports and politics, international relations and comparative politics. His most recent research is in two areas: nationalism and surrogate warfare. In nationalism, he studies the relationship between nationalism, cultural performance, and indigenization of official state identities. In surrogate warfare, he develops concepts on the use of sports and other alternative forms of conflict as a surrogate for war. Professor D’Agati advises and trains Northeastern’s competitive Model Arab League and Model NATO teams. Both are nationally and internationally recognized for their excellence in performance and tradition of success. D’Agati is a member of the advisory board of the National Council on US-Arab Relations and is a acholar-in-residence for its Model Arab League Program.
