James is a doctoral candidate and instructor in Northeastern University’s Department of Political Science. In addition to his academic roles, James works as the Operations Manager for Boston City Councilor At-Large Ayanna Pressley. James, a California native, received his BA in 2011 from Emmanuel College in Boston, MA where he also played Division III volleyball. James earned his MA from Northeastern University in 2013.
Broadly speaking, James is studying the fields of comparative and American politics. His primary research interests include: local and state politics; campaigns and elections, particularly at the local level; political parties; electoral geography; political marginalization; race and politics; campaign rhetoric; and zoning and community development.
In his free time, James enjoys playing volleyball, baseball, and football.
