Northeastern University
Department of Theatre

The study of theatre is a fusion of performance, visual expression, design, text, theory, and history balancing production theory and practice.

In the theatre production laboratory, students are involved in experiential learning that synthesizes the ideas, theories, and practices studied in the classroom. These ideas and practices are then transformed into performances in both laboratory and public venues.

A theatre major may petition for a concentration in either performance or production, or may select to remain a generalist. Plentiful opportunities exist for independent projects, internships, and cooperative education experiences.
